@Shmupgurus: If you want hard turn-based RPGs play Atlus´ MegaTen games. Also LO doesn´t exactly have a great battle system. It might not be easy, but the whole process takes a lot of time for no reason: loading-characters taking their poses-enemies taking their poses-actions taking too much time-once winning another load for the winning poses and menu. That gets really boring with traditional turn-based RPGs, that´s why DQ has the best traditional battle-system since all that added non-interactive crap is non-existent.

 

I also never finished FFXII btw, lol. If I´ll return would be for its spectacular ps2 graphics and beating the hunts, rare hunts. It´s because of the automation that the gambits brought forth, that I didn´t like it. In the beginning it´s okay since you don´t have many gambits, but afterwards it gets so automatic. You can even let the game play by itself, you´ll only need to use the analog stick and the x button when you talk to NPCs/engage in combat.
