FF XII was not much different with having to wait for attacks, the main difference was that you could make the whole battle fight by itself while you ended up staring at the (large) monster's back leg and ass for the whole fight. (from a stupid 3/4 down angle to boot).

I for one, welcome battles that will allow for dynamic camera angles again. Hurray for letting us appreciate all the work the artists and animators put into these creatures again.
