I didn't read this thread, and I didn't pay attention to what anybody else said. I just have one thing to say.

Nintendo doesn't need to keep up the momentum.

The Wii has already sold somewhere in the range of 11.5 to 12 million consoles. By its one-year-anniversary date, it will have sold approximately 13 to 14 million consoles. It's already halfway to Gamecube lifetime sales. If it loses its momentum and dies down to the same market that the Gamecube had (because I can guarantee it'll at least do that much), it'll easily still sell 35 million consoles in its lifetime.

35 million is an enormous thing, especially compared to Gamecube's life sales.

Thus, it (theoretically) may slow enormously. It may (theoretically) end up taking third. But it'll still be a gigantic success for Nintendo, smashing both of its previous consoles in sales totals.

Needless to say, I don't believe that's how things will go. That's the worst case scenario.
