the problem with having the "free market" dictate everything is that we place value on the stupidest things sometimes.

Teachers and Policemen and Firemen don't get paid what they're worth, but we have Ms. Spears shaving her head and flashing her junk and she's probably worth more than all of us here on VGC combined!

I know, i know, you don't have to "CHOOSE" to be a teacher and you can go do something else and make a lot more money; however the problem is that all the good people who otherwise would have been teachers go do something else that is less productive but they get like 10x the money.

There is a way to fix that. If schools were not government run, and they had to compete for your children, schools would want the best teachers, and would be willing to pay for them.

Teachers don't get paid well because there profession is not in a free market. Not the other way around.

being married to one i know you sir are quite wrong

if it was a free market the whole system would colapse if only b/c no one would keep special ed kids b/c they are a drain on teh numbers

if school a has an avrage test score range of 4.9 out of five (with out special ed kids) and school b (full of special ed kids) only can pull 1.3 out of 5

where do you think people are going to want to send their kids and thus the money
