I would say this is foolish if you are trading. If you are actually selling you PS3 for maximum profit then go right ahead. It will be great to pick up a DSi and some games and will be a lot of fun.
In the long run though you may regret this decision if you let your system go for too cheap and have to purchase another PS3 once a game comes out on it that you want.
Just stateing my opinion and either way I think you will have alot of fun.
