I was just thinking about How Some of the best battle systems in Games came in the form of a turned based RPG. I also find it disturbing that I have yet to see one outside of Lost Odyssey! To top it off when ever I bring it up with my friends or fellow Forum dwellers that I want a Turned Based JRPG like what I got during the PS1-PS2 era They say that those kind of games are Boring because of a Slow pace!

Well im not to sure but to me FFX had a brilliant battle system with an excellent pace and Im very disappointed to see a lack of these kind of JRPGs maybe thats the reason why JRPGs are taking a hit because no one can get the good old battle system that we used to see back in the day! (Also lack of quality and console choice may have been a factor)

What do you think? Should JRPG's phase out the Turned Based System and replace it with a more action oriented system? Or Should JRPG's keep the Turned based system we were so used to seeing last gen?

"In video game terms, RPGs are games that involve a form of separate battles taking place with a specialized battle system and the use of a system that increases your power through a form of points.

Sure, what you say is the definition, but the connotation of RPGs is what they are in video games." - dtewi
