I believe this 65% info. There are a lot of people speaking japanese at neogaf and all the info from Japan gets there as soon as it's available.
But the game takes that long not because Square are "slow". The programmers and designers working on both games are all the same people who made FFX and KH, including Ken Narita, the lead programmer of FF since FFIV. They didnt just become "slow" all of a sudden.
For some reason this fact is being ignored all around, but making an impressive looking and polished 40 hour long game is much harder than making an impressive looking 6-12 hour long game we are used to this gen.
