its not so much the playing aspect. Its rentals having to store 4, keeping track of 4, more chances of lost or damaged discs etc. Just convenience....its not a necessity but very little in "Videogaming" can be deemed such as it is just a leasure activity in the end. We dont NEED HD graphics, we dont NEED uncompressed audio, we dont NEED to be able ot turn on our console from our controller, we dont NEED a little keyboard attached to our controller to IM on our video game, etc. Lots of stuff we dont need but is nice in this generation. Half of technology we dont need but, seriously, i dont understand how anyone legitamately would want to argue theyd rather have 4 discs than one for a game....im inclined to believe its merely self justification, but regardless i dont understand why people would actually argue in favor of having 4 discs.......theres nothing wrong with saying, yeah its too expensive now (BD) but it will eventually be nice, the pride of some people is sad. |
Ok, now that I have a chance to write more. Ok, was that pride comment towards me? If you'd notice in my post, I was not specifically addressing technology advancing. And in fact, what I said inherently indicates I want the storage space, of whatever medium we use, to increase.
Technology is going to advance as time goes on, and more space will be needed for games. You seem to have understood that I argued we should use DVD forever. In time, we would then have to swap out disks quite frequently. I don't find it the slightest inconvienence to get off the couch and swap disks every few days or several sessions I game. Now, if I have to get up and swap disks multiple times every time I sit down to play a game, that would be way too much. As I said earlier. Sooo, inherently, that means with the advancement of technology, and the constant need for more space, I will absolutely want storage space to increase.
So if your saying I was arguing 4 disks is better than 1, you are wrong. I was saying that in the storage space vs. game requirement space ratio, I find no issue with swapping disks once every several times I sit down to play.
When it comes to the management of several disks, thats not an issue for me personally. The disks are ALWAYS in their proper case, or in the system itself. I don't lose or scratch disks. But, I will admit that is an issue for some people. My wife leaves Movie DVDs and Music CDs lying around everywhere. Drives me NUTS! Disks get scratched, lost, and smudged all the time by her. She's learned to be good with my games though ::grin::
