The computer hardware requirements aren't as big as you might assume. Not everyone uses the computer hardware at the same time, and not all games require as much performance. Its easier to upgrade the hardware locally as computer technology advances and theres no need to orphan large segments of your userbase to upgrade the technology. (Console generations)
