I've heard of many people doing something like this. This one guy was called for a case defending some guy who beat another guy up, and he was a wrestling coach. When they found that out, they said thanks, but we don't want you here... in a nicer way, of course. =)
They try to find people who won't have a bias, so if you say something that shows a bias, they'll get rid of you.
It's still good to go however, since if everyone did that, we'd never get anywhere in the courts.
