He has some points, but the iPhone is using a completely different model for development and distribution of games. It is competing, in an indirect way, with dedicated handheld gaming devices, but they're structure is so radically different that I'm not sure if you can actually compare the two.
And as a very separate beast, the iPhone model is very young and still evolving. It's pretty exciting to watch, but I think we need to wait for the dust to settle before we judge either model as being superior to the other. They'll probably just end up being different and serving different users/needs.
