In one case developers are simply restricted, in the other they probably restrict themselves and have to make an extra payment on top of that. In all honesty none of this would be a big issue if publishers weren't already suffering from record expenses on HD development. In the end this is one more thing pushing publishers away from the PS360 and towards the Wii, so it's good news as far as I'm concerned.

Restricting your content can cripple your overall sales of a game. Which bottom line, (Sales) is the source of revenue for developers.
I agree, While I certainly don't believe it is a 'positive' thing but it is hardly crippling either. This has been going on since what? October? I honestly haven't noticed much lacking in terms of content personally and quite frankly I'm not upset either. Demo's are essentially free advertising for these companies and under other circumstances they would have to pay for the advertising anyways.
I'm glad the fee hasn't been passed back to the consumers though.
