i did the same thing about my squad. i would actually load entire battles from the beginning if someone happens to die and i couldn't save him/her.
to me it wasn't really just winning the battle. it was winning the battle with everyone alive :) (which was time consuming and unnecessary, but the game MAKES you care about them)
