I'm using the best teminology that your left me with. I would have not used the term "moved sideways" as it was, but it's still closer than using the concept of evolving. I'm glad you understand what it means. Then you understand the difference on how scientist now greatly view the universe differently than when it was under Newtonian Law. Now that was have established that it not unreasonable that shifting thought from say "Bigger Games" sold to a niche group who gossip about games(Gamer) to say "Focuses accessible Game" that requires new ways to attract non traditional gaming crowd. This is done on how the game is percieved to a broader appeal and how easy it is for them to play. These are shift of thinking as a whole not an evolution.
Now you are not getting the Arcade model referrence. Instead you referr to it in current tense rather than back in the day in regards to the Paradigm Shift. Which would be more past tense. This seems to me you might be of the younger age group when Arcades were king of gaming.
Arcades always had the BIG BUDGET Games as HDD consoles have now.
Arcades provided the BETTER Graphics as HDD consoles do now.
As consoles advanced the edge that arcades had over consoles grew smaller. Who would want to trade the expereince of the Arcade for an NES. No one did, but people now had the Arcade & the NES. When the Snes came out Arcades were still top dog, but a notable shift occured. SF2 was pretty much a perfect arcade version. By the end of the SNES the SNES proved that home gaming was viable, growing and starting to dig into Arcades. When the PS came out and was able to provide better gaming than the Arcades it was over. The Arcades needed to change and they did. They have become places to play classis or have social gameplay. They are no longer top dog. Since all of console gaming is now done at home. Played at home. HDD consoles don't follow a Hollywood model, but their TV counter parts.
More accuratly I would like to akin Nintendo Now & NES days to that of Sony durring the first transistor radio days. It is far more accurate than liking models of a different industry. This was the time when the big radio manfactureres did not see much point in the tiny transistor because the qaulity of sound was terrible. Sony was the value of it's smaller and cheaper size by brining radio into everyones homes and pockets. This is far more accurate. Bigger, more expensive higher current out put qaulity, but appeals to less due to size and cost of the machine. Were as the Sony radio was far more portable. Sony caused disruption and ended up the better for it. This was a shift in thinking. Radio for those who could pay for it to that of Radio for everyone.
Sorry never read Khun's work. I tend to stay in the realm of Planck quantum mechanics and interest in the Casimir effect. I'm a firm believer that the QFT(Qaumtum Field Theory not Qouted for Truth) is coming far sooner than people realise.
Squilliam: On Vgcharts its a commonly accepted practice to twist the bounds of plausibility in order to support your argument or agenda so I think its pretty cool that this gives me the precedent to say whatever I damn well please.
