And with Silver, it is unpaid. Microsoft uses the money for Gold to enable people to download games and demos and so on. And this explains why there are far more demos of games on the 360 than the PS3.
Early on, the idea of Sony CHARGING for demo downloads was discussed. Well, I guess it looks like it made its own comeback in this form.
