JRPGs are probably going the way of the dodo. Maybe not for handhelds.

Dodos are extinct. RPGs are traveling. The reason you see so few Square Enix RPGs on consoles is because what could be one team of 100 guys making one single console RPG for 360, PS3 or both can instead break off into four or five teams and get that many RPGs out on the DS in the same timeframe. Now tell me this. What sounds more profitable to you? Five RPGs coming out on a single 90 million userbase, a lot of which is in Japan, or one RPG coming out on either a 30 million userbase, 22 million userbase or a combined 52 million userbase that has barely any Japanese presence?

But you have to remember, Dev should always be behind with the jrpg? They know that realese for handhelds could be more guaranteed, but dev sometime wants to make games with better graphics and with many features that just a powerful system can bring, if dev didn't have the wish to go beyond and have new challenges to make better games a new gen would never be realesed, Capcom knowed that RE: Code veronica would have sold much more on ps1 than DC, but they wanted to make a game that just wasn't possible with the ps1 and DC could give this game to then.

And if you want to go beyond handhelds just can't give it to then, but 360 and ps3 can in the matter of processing power and wii can give it in the matter of gameplay(but for jrpg i don't think motion capture would be very addictive because of the length of the gameplay)

What do you mean by "be behind"? I haven't seen a single advancement in RPGs past the PSOne days(which is where the hardware of the DS is at) that can't merely be replicated on the DS. Give me one single advancement since the PSOne days that the DS simply can't handle. For every one you give me, I'll give you something the touch screen and dual screens have added to the experience making the triumphs of DS RPGs far above what the 360 or PS3 could give RPGs.
