For my expectations (that are mainly those things MS feared) PS3 has too many shortcomings to be a viable substitute to a Wintel PC besides a console. I wish it enough success to prevent MS from becoming a danger to market plurality, but I won't buy it, I hope PS4 will have what PS3 misses. Of this gen I think I'll buy a Wii, but only when it will be priced under 130€.
