My personal belief is that the Wii is America's newest, cheap toy that everybody must have. I also believe that the software will catch up with the Wii's success and the sales will stall. Right now, the Wii has very little in the way of "innovative" gaming to make the concept a truly successful one. Once consumers understand this, they'll move on to another toy. That's not to say that the Wii will forever remain a toy, just that right now it's nothing special.

Or maybe its what people want, if people wanted the gaming on the PS3 and 360 they would have been gamers in the previous gens

instead they are buying a Wii because its gaming is accessible and it has options for people who aren't interested in playing for 30 hours, but only want to play for a few minutes to maybe an hour or who want to play with their friends, in addition it has the Nintendo games for the hardcore

and it is getting good dev support as it becomes the fastest selling console and quickly catches up to the 360

Predictions:Sales of Wii Fit will surpass the combined sales of the Grand Theft Auto franchiseLifetime sales of Wii will surpass the combined sales of the entire Playstation family of consoles by 12/31/2015 Wii hardware sales will surpass the total hardware sales of the PS2 by 12/31/2010 Wii will have 50% marketshare or more by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  It was a little over 48% only)Wii will surpass 45 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  Nintendo Financials showed it fell slightly short of 45 million shipped by end of 2008)Wii will surpass 80 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2009 (I was wrong!! Wii didn't even get to 70 Million)
