Most of these are fairly recent games that may or may not qualify as masterpiece material to certain people.

Halo- Aliens? Check. Familiar shooter mechanics? Check. Typical arsenal of weapons? Check. Unique and interesting innovations? Can't think of anything.

Assassins Creed- The environments and animations are amazing, sure. Combat was dull. Game play was repetitive. The end was missing something.

GTA Series- I dislike the 'feel' of the series. I think GTA meshes together too many lackluster game play systems. Free roaming is fun, but is the only appealing aspect of the game for me. GTA 4 improved the gun play, but it felt repetitive and shallow under the guise of 'infinite possibilities'. Not fond of the control scheme while handling vehicles, nor the camera.

Oblivion- I'm a fan of the Elder Scrolls series, spending countless hours modding Morrowind; a fantastic game. I had high expectations for Oblivion. After spending time in the game, I realized that it wasn't what the hype machine made it out to be. The leveling of the game world in relation to your character's level was not something I liked at all. The whole skills system was bad. The main quest had SO much potential, but ultimately left me feeling slightly let down towards the end.

The PC version obviously has many patches and mods that improve the negative aspects of the game beyond expectations. Unfortunately, I'm stuck with the console version.

World of Warcraft- The whole thing is a big joke. Forgive me, WoW fans, but you do the same thing every bloody day and pay for it. Leveling to 80 so you can grab epics, wait for new content and grab more epics, and so on. Successful PvP is basically exclusive to the few classes that excel in it.

Friends are fun to hang out with and chat with over vent while playing WoW, but when that's all your friends want to do; it's time to get them help. Also- you probably will have a hard time finding girls to befriend or date if you want to be successful in-game. That night elf chick dancing on the mailbox? Yeah...HE doesn't count dude.

Having a friend who is a WoW addict, I know what that game can do to people who can't control themselves. Get them out of the house/dorm/dungeon and show them the games on consoles they're missing out on. :)

Gears of War- The cover mechanics are cool. Like the third person gun play. Unfortunately, by the third level I was bored and uninspired. It's really nothing we haven't seen before. The eye candy was spectacular though.

Fallout 3- Ok, hate on me if you want. I felt the game was missing it's charm. Loved the vault part and the first dozen or so hours. After that, I felt like I had already experienced most of what the game had to offer. The main quest kinda stunk too. VATS was fun, but after blowing a super mutant into bloody chunks a few hundred times, it gets old. The VATS slow-mo camera bugged me too.

I KNOW Fallout 3 is a great game. The developers put a lot of love into it. Polish is heavy, and on every layer of game play. I just felt like it left a lot to be desired. This feeling might come from having played the previous titles or something. I don't know.

Uncharted- It's a gorgeous game. Unfortunately, it masks it's mediocrity behind this protective glaze.

Person 1: Does Valkyria Chronicles have trophies?
Person 2:  No.
Person 1: Forget it. I'm not buying it.
Person 2: Wait! It's amazing! Unique, charming, drop dead gorgeous... Hello?
