Sony's metaphorical gonads are in a vice now though- people are expecting a price cut so they won't go and buy a ps3 only to have it fall 100 dollars the next day. So those people wait. Waiting = no sales for ps3 = sony getting even deeper in 3rd place.
Their hand has been forced in this exchange- price cut is almost guaranteed.
