pricegrabber rules you noob

He said Best Buy,  Noob.

I'm pretty sure his point was that BR players are cheap now. Bestbuy.com is not the cheapest price you can get a BR player from BB either. You could always get a display model, or clearance model.

NOOOOOOoooOoOoOBBBbbB!!!!1 ;P

its called economies of scale. If you produce massive amounts of the same thing, then over time, fixed costs go down as production increases. Think of it like this. If it takes a machine 4 hours to heat up to the right temperature, costing you 5k$ per hour while heating and only 2k per hour while running, then the smartest thing to do is never stop producing. There are innumerable ways to cut costs like this, but only when you are making huge numbers of them. ADDITIONALLY, the PS3 BR drive is actually a higher quality BR player than most. If you were into the whole HDDVD vs BR debate, many HDDVD people were saying how BR 1.1spec or something was terrible and that the only "real" future-proof BR drive was the PS3 BR drive.

I'm very well aware of this.  The point that I am making is this :  The diodes are the most expensive part of the process.  The reason these players are getting cheaper is primarily due to decreases in the Diode price.  (A decrease that the PS3 is also seeing).

I didn't see you mentioning diode prices, I apologize for preaching then :P. That IS a large factor. But there are several other major differences between companies that account for cheaper prices.

the wii is a fad, itll burn out in 6-7 months

Actually,  to some extent I agree. (But then again I'm very disappointed with the games on the Wii).

Lol i said it as a joke, but there is some truth to it. However it is highly debatable. Extrememly debatable.

people at dell will tell you anything to get you to buy a pc from them.

It wasn't a Dell PC he was trying to convince anyone to buy.

From my experience with computers, integrated GPU's are never good except for a few exceptions on really expensive mobos.
