Because people will do anything to try and dog others.
Anyway, rumble isn't a big deal for me, but I didn't want to get another controller (opted for a PS2-USB adaptor instead) until there were rumble controllers. I'd just hope that I can turn rumble off if it's going to needlessly waste battery life on games that just throw rumble in there for the sole purpose of making your hands numb.
I do enjoy how light the controller is without rumble though, I'll have to give it a shot when they come out.
