Given the current Company situation and announcements of pay freezes and layoffs it still sounds that Sony are not in an ideal position for a price cut.
Given the original posters comments I wonder if they should even cut the price at all. I would argue they should stay with the margin for a while, the PS3 is actually holding up very well considering and this year does see some attractive titles that should help keep the sales coming in. I realize the risks if they continue without a significant discount but I would suggest they continue for as long as they can, as all that will happen is they will spark a price war with the Wii now seeing a slowing of sales and the 360 trying to keep its upward trend which is bound to also start slowing soon.
