Mystery solved
We all wanted to see a survival horror game, and instead we got a shooter. It doesn't matter whether it is a good shooter or not, because all reviewers are reviewing it as a survival horror game, and thus the 6/10 is justified

That is crap.
RE4 was not survival horror, not even close. To copy and paste from another thread:
Resident Evil 5 is not an action game.
Just because there is a lot mor eshooting in it doesn't mean it has abandoned all staples of survival horror (like RE4 did) or the old games.
You have a limited inventory (like the classics), you don't get oodles of ammo (like the classics), you get proper detailed files that flesh out the plot (like the classics), you get proper B.O.Ws and enemies from classic games, you get some areas that stop the linear paths and let you explore how you like, the story is also an actual RE related story, again tying into the classics.
People calling RE5 an action game yet defending RE4 need to get a reality check. Leon walking about in RE4 able to carry a full arsenal with enough ammo dropping it may as well have been infinite was a joke, the story was a joke, the files were a joke, everything about that game was as far from RE as you could get. RE4 was not horror.
RE5 has taken the series back much closer to its roots, while still keeping the updated gameplay.
