If you refuse to drink alcohol then I hardly think you're qualified to know. Also while I'm cool with people not drinking (and I can totally understand why they don't) it doesn't mean you have to be a wank about it.
As a student drinking on social occasions is pretty much normal, however thinking about it all day isn't. My advice would be just to kick it for at least a month or two, also apparently going to see a counsellor (sp?) is actually a massive help for getting over an addiction if you do come to the conclusion that you have an issue.
