That's hilarious to me, because that's the exact same gateway drug I stumbled upon to get my girlfriend into RPGs. Maybe there's something about FF IX?  It has an incredibly charming beginning, that's for sure.  Haven't yet gotten her to play strategy games, but she has beaten most of the Final Fantasies, Suikoden V and most of II, Fable II, and Tales of Vesperia.  My next move is Chrono Trigger.

I think the charm is exactly what did it. Right off the bat you knew the whole kidnapping thing was going to turn into so much more. The characters were funny and Kuja was bad-ass.

She wants to replay the game soon. Last time we played it together (2 TV's and 2 PS2's). That is easy to do because I love that game so much.

Let her watch some Disgaea episodes on Youtube. It tends to follow the storyline, with a few changes here and there, but she may end up loving the characters and the large amounts of humor.

Hey Euph, do you know you actually can play FFIX as a team?  You go into config options and set each character to be controlled by either controller 1 or controller 2 in combat.  Outside combat you have to take turns.  Never tried the two TV setup.
