What would happen if Gran turismo 5 and Halo 3 launched on the same day?

You can sum it all up in one sentence. Halo 3 would outsell GT5 because the PS3 fanbase will not be anything close to what the PS2 fanbase was when GT4 was released, nor will it ever get anywhere close to it as much as fanboys like to believe.

Weren't there only 4-5 million PS2's sold when GT3 launched? The installed user base is clearly not going to be a limiting factor for a system seller like GT5 unless the PS3 doesn't see another price cut before its launch.
