Microsoft will follow suit @ E3 if the price drop affects sales a lot.

And then Sony will follow suit @ TGS and the cycle starts all over again only ending when Microsoft can't possibly go any lower at $99.99.

As far as I know, Sony is STILL LOSING MONEY FOR EVERY PS3 SOLD!  So at MOST, there will be a $100 price drop this whole year overall, and if Microsoft made a 360 available for $99.99, it would sell 2x as much, LITERALLY!

I highly doubt the 360 will ever be $99.  The only console I can think of that ever dipped that low was the GameCube, and it was dying when it happened.  Even the ps2 is still $129.

Ifthe ps3 starts outselling the 360 after a price cut, MS probably won't drop the price (and if they do, not by much).  They have a humongous lead, and at this point they probably aren't to worried about Sony slowly eating away at it.  Thie last holiday season alone added almost 3 million to the gap, and I think they have all the padding they could care for at the moment.

There's no reason to cut the price when you can sell more systems at $199 than you ever have before, and still make a nive chunk of profit on each one.
