Yes, but whatever animal eats those cubs is meant to by the natural food chain. Animals are not restricted...
Besides, then the lioness comes back after the cub has been attacked, but not yet eaten because they heard it cry out (still alive, but damaged; the girl never actually had sex with him, and told her parents), and brings a few other lionesses (cops, ect) back and kill him (he is going to jail) We are just waiting for the lion's mouth to close around whatever animal attacked the cub.
