Sounds like it is temporary. I did similar, and about to get my PS3 back. I mean I let someone borrow my PS3 for awhile, so he could try it out. Killzone 2 called me, so I had to get it back.
I would think a PERMANENT trade would be crazy. A PERMANENT trade of the 60 GB PS3 would be REALLY crazy.
