anyways i would say that i wouldn't go for the ds version. Simply because it's too much like GTA1 and 2.. it's like a step back, in my opinion.

CT wars is similar to the GTA 1 and 2 gameplay era....I enjoyed those games but to be honest GTA IV (while it may not be as good as SA) is still a very good game....especially in 3D (where GTA games excel).... But then again you cannot really compare CT wars to GTA IV because of their vast difference....If you want to play the retro GTA go for DS...but if you want a large scale open world game in 3D go for GTA IV...so i guess its just a matter of preference

You guys are silly.  Saying this game is "similiar" to GTA 1 and 2 proves that you have no idea what you are talking about.  The only semi-similarity that this game has to GTA 1 and 2 is that it's camera is a little higher up (it's not even straight down like the GTA 1 and 2 ones were, it's tilted back a little)

Gameplaywise, it doesn't resemble the old GTA's at all.  It's much more similar to GTA3 and Vice City than even GTA IV was.  In GTA2, there were 3 seperate cities.  In each city, there were 3 gangs you could do jobs for.  When you'd do jobs for a gang, your respect-o-meter would raise for that gang, and fall for the other gangs.  In this game, there are 3 islands all interconnected by bridges, they have the more linear jobs found in GTA3 and all the newer games, they have property that you can buy.  They have apartments that you can save at and store your car at.  Everything about this game, gameplay-wise, is very much like the new GTA's.  They even have the targeting system from the newer GTA's that was absent in the old GTAs.

To say that this game is "retro" and "like the old GTAs" is to proclaim your ignorance of the topic.

"but if you want a large scale open world game in 3D..."  GTA chinatown wars is large-scale, and is also in 3D.
