I've played both. For starters, GTA: Chinatown Wars was much easier to "patch" than GTA IV on PC.
As far as immersion, detail and storytelling go, the DS version really does it for me. Playing something fun and refreshing after a fourth entry that felt like it took the franchise to the toilet, yeah I can do that.
