U can be sure that people will prefer buy a PS3 over an Xbox360
but right now, the price difference is huge and the PS3 is just beginning to get some interesting games.
There are a lot of people who are not used to check the lastest piece of news and that will prefer buy a PS3 than a Xbox360, particularly in Europe and Japan. Just wait a little bit more.

Remember Wii is currently focusing mainly on casual gaming
The Xbox360 still doesn't have MGS4/FFXIII and all the Sony exclusive games like God of war or GT5. I dont even mention the new IP (like Afrika/Unfamous ...).
Ace combat 6 + Eternel Sonata are coming on PS3 too.
Halo3 is nothing except for american fan boy.
Bioshock, the incredible game of the year is not even exclusive since it is aviable on PC too.
Remember that internet is biaised mainly by hardcore gamers and even more by American hardcore gamer who fear so much about Europe/Japan resistance to the Xbox360.
Overall, considering the console price+the games, the Xbox360 sales are pretty low ...
