As Pokemon Platinum's US release draws near, I can't help but think that the game itself has all the attention while Giratina just takes the backseat.. or rather, the front seat. Not to say that Pokemon Platinum is overrated but Giratina needs some love too. It is the driving force for the plot in Pokemon Platinum after all.
What is a Giratina?
Giratina is the #487 creature in the popular Japanese Role-Playing Game Franchise, Pokemon. It has been given the title of Rebellion Pokemon. According to the Pokedex entry in both Pokemon Diamond and Pokemon Pearl, it is "A Pokemon that is said to live in a world on the reverse side of ours. It appears in an ancient cemetery."
Besides this, Giratina is a dual type Pokemon of both Ghost and Dragon and this typing is unique to Giratina. It also is the only Pokemon to learn a move called Shadow Force, a ghost type move in which Giratina disappears one turn and attacks with 120 base power.
It appears in Turnback Cave in both Pokemon Diamond and Pokemon Pearl at the high level of 70. It also appears in the Distortion/Torn World would in Pokemon Platinum. Not much is known as to how the Distortion/Torn World currently but Giratina is the only Pokemon with free access to it. Upon entering the Torn World, it changes from Altered Forme to Origin Forme. Along with its appearance, its stats also change.
