Their R&D budgets have skyrockted, if that means anything. I was also pretty sure that Sakurai was originally opposed to the idea of having competitive online in Brawl in the first place. Neither does Nintendo particularly care about online play

 

EDIT: Also, we still have no proof that Factor 5 is gone. Indeed, screens were recently released to Unseen 64 about their canceled Superman game, though whether they were scrounged from former employees of a dead company, or willingly released by a company who felt no need to keep that project quiet, we still don't know
