I'm not gonna argue with your comments on the art design, voice acting and cgi, but saying that all the characters were important compared to FFVII is just ridiculous. Let's take the least important characters in FFVII. People tend to say is either Yuffie or Cait Sith. The reason people say Cait Sith is not really because he was not important, but more because they hate him. He was a giant slot machine that actually worked for Shinra and switched to your side becoming sort of a triple agent by the end of the game. It was strange for Cloud and company to trust him in the first place, and the player never felt like it was a smart decision to do it after he betrayed you. And he was also useless in battle. Yuffie on the other hand was an optional character, and while her background was not great, it was there. Doing her side quest lead you to information about Shinra's past, and the only peek into a war that had occurred a few years back. She confronted her father on being totaly lame, and he snapped out of it. She was not exactly the most important character of them all, but she was optional, and demanding good story for optional characters means you're playing too much Chrono Trigger... Now let's look at Vaan. His brother was killed. He wanted revenge. Then after a while he didn't. That's it. Now let's look at Penelo. She was Vaan's sidekick. That's it. |
i disagree. you just said yuffie is optional so it shouldnt even be counted and her sidestory maight have to do with the past of shinra but it doenst have any relation with the main story and caith sid never played a big role in the story either and like you said it was useless in battle too. maybe i can agree with you regarding penelo but not with vaan. at first like you said he wanted revenge because of his brother but then after he find out the truth he just wanted to make justice and he knew he had to do something because the fate of the world and of his land was in danger and after he met baltheir and all the others pirates at the end, that motivate him more because he wanted from the beggining to be a pirate. he had to do something for his brother and the people that died during the story like the pirate with white hair(i dont remember his name) or the people in the temple with snow because he is a person that is motivated by justice because from the begging of his life he suffered to much. ohh i am sorry if my other opinion sounded as a fact i didnt meant to put it like that sorry guys.
