^What do you mean you don't "need" immigrants? One of the best ways to expand economical output is to increase the labour force. In many developed countries, birth rates are falling, and it takes a good 20 years for a baby to be turned into a skilled labourer.
Immigration provides immediate labour, and as a country is more developed, more people are incented to move to that country, addressing both problems.
