Thank you Khuutra and blaydcor, for trying to speak about characters in terms of plot, development, narrative.
Not in terms of who would kick whose ass, who is cooler, who has the more epic theme, who would you like to be in your most juvenile fantasies.
I was more surprised and moved by Vaan - who is indeed not the main character, guys - talking Ashe into reconsidering her revenge and anger, than by most epic plot twists about secret parent-son relations and villains being manouvered by even less interesting super-villains.
Both of which topoi, by the way, are present in a fashion in FFXII but again nicely treated.
