Speaking of which, why didn't they go the Silent Hill route and make it adventurey and freaky at the same time? They could have used the tarted up graphics like that too and kept the beautiful crappy control scheme from RE's past.

Because Silent Hill Homecoming sold horrible and the game only got mediocre scores ?

Which is my point in some respects. Silent Hill Homecoming isn't really a proper Silent Hill game. It's taken what people actually liked about Silent Hill and put it in the bin. Same as RE series. I didn't actually mind Silent Hill so much because although it wasn't really scary or that unsettling it was still pretty much Silent Hill in it's mechanics. RE isn't and I think the way the game plays in RE is very important if you're after an old school RE experience.

I don't know why they didn't go back to the old way, it's not like there are many games like that anymore. Wheras the way RE is going it's crossing over with a lot of other games and so people might decide not to get it because they already got their does of FPS type tomfoolery. I'm exaggerating to an extent and not saying I'm right at all and I'm certainly not talking in terms of sales seriously. It can't have hurt though to go back to basics.
