I preferred Vice City. While I appreciated the attempting to write a well done character in SA. It was overall terrible. The hero goes from someone trying to stay out to homicidal maniac. Way to early too. I do get the concept of being drawn and losing your self, but there never seems to be a retrospective. Even when his sister is their wanting him and her boyfriend to be better.
At least in VC the guy is a maniac and they never really try to hide it either. It's a game where you can drown in that you are a dirt bag. I was able to enjoy that. Theres no pretense of a morally good person or to be a morally good person.
SA world design was probably better in regards to realism, size and scope, but it felt more empty compared to VC. VC was more stylized and had more presence as a world. Both were fun to drive around in. To me this is a tie. Bigger world vs Stronger world.
I like VC more, but given the opportunity of being a human I would have preferred SA. They just did a poor job.
If GTA4 comes to the PC I might enjoy that more than SA.
Squilliam: On Vgcharts its a commonly accepted practice to twist the bounds of plausibility in order to support your argument or agenda so I think its pretty cool that this gives me the precedent to say whatever I damn well please.
