So again, if JRPG fans are a small subset of a small subset of total gamers, why would this game be majorly hyped because it's a JRPG? That doesn't make sense, it makes much more sense to say this game is hyped because it is a PS3 exclusive and it's pretty. -edit- Think of it something like this. I know it's nowhere near perfect and not actually right, but it gives you the right idea.

You should first ask yourself if the hype actually exist... the only place where this was hyped at a retail level was Japan where big budget JRPG are still big things. Where is the hype from the Western audience other than JRPG enthusiast? There were some game site exposure and a few feature article but other than that there really hasn't been much real hype behind this game in the west due to its exclusivity. If anything the fact that its a Level-5 game generated more hype than the fact that its a PS3 game.
