Why are we talking about installs on the PS3 now? Good developers have been able to code Uncharted and Killzone 2 with no installs whatsoever, and they stream alot of data. But if you have 35 GB of data no good developer can save you from disk swapping on the 360. As for those saying "I was 20 hours into the game when I had to swap disk", that's all fine and dandy as long as the progression of the game is linear. But what if you are on planet A, you choose to travel to planet B *disk swap*, then you choose to travel to planet C *disk swap*... Weren't we all lovers of "huge, open world games"? |
I consider Konami to be a good developer and I consider Metal Gear Solid 4 is a great game. I can't even load a save game from a different level without a long install. Is that "fine and dandy"? I own a PS3 and I do love it, but don't blind yourself to a real and tangible flaw, as opposed to a flaw that has yet to be seen. The simple answer about your Planet A / Planet B scenario: There will be an acceptable solution.
