Little thread revivial because I only saw it the other day.
As a comic reader, mainly Marvel, I had mixed feelings about this. Just to put this over, unlike my 2 work mates who've read the book once 2 or 3 years ago and enjoyed it a lot. I've read it nigh on 20 times, one of my favourite books of all time.
It was either going to be a nigh on carbon copy or changed beyond recognition to a screwed version of what it should be.
It was both. While the scenes that were in it were good and precise to the book, down to even the camera angles and words (I could actually recognise them as they were spoken and oddly pictured the scene from the comic in my head before it happened on screen), it was sometimes pretty obvious when a scene was taken out, so so much was ignored that me and many other would deem nesseccary for the book to be translated into film.
Little did i know what they really did to it. Come nearer the end, I was waiting for a select few words to be said by Veidt, waiting for certain sequences, moments. Noen which happened, my annoyance grew a bit, it seems nearer the end of this all, they were dropping more and more. Then Veidt delivered his great line, and I thought "What? He's not supposed to say that yet, he's has to explain a lot more stuff"...this is the moment I realise what they had changed and it disgusted me.
It was a good movie for normal movie goers and for me it was good but to much changed.
Hmm, pie.
