Government gets 90% of every dollar spent? I call bullshit.

I earn a dollar. 33% of it is taken right off the bat by the fed. I then lose  6% from the state. 39c gone.

Then I spend it, and of the 61c left, 3.7 is taken in sales tax. 42.7c gone.

Then all the profit earned from the sale of whatever is sold to me is taxed at roughly 45% (what's not profit is because he spent it on something, and that's then taxed at 45% from whomever he bought the item from).

If profit was 100% (not likely), that's 25.8c. 68.5c gone at a max, probably more like 60c gone.

So, of that 40c left per dollar I earn, I have to pay all the rest of the taxes we pay. I pay more tax when I pay:

  • Property tax
  • Boat tax
  • Major tax when I stay in a hotel or fly
  • Auto tax
  • Major tax on gas
  • Spend money on highly taxed items like Alchahol.
  • And the dozens of other items additional tax is collected on.

I read somewhere that the amount of every dollar spent that goes to the government, is around 90c
