the free weekend will be held again this next weekend, and the deal was extended was well.
also, if the game alone can't convince you to buy it, take a look at http://www.moddb.com for already released and upcoming mods. I guess it will take some time until it reaches UT2004 status (if it ever does), as UT3 is surely more demanding graphically, but there's already two very promising mods, Angels Fall First: Planetstorm and the ball one :P
