legend of legaia - somehow played this before ffvii. the story just wrapped me in.
final fantasy vii - again loved the story
legend of dragoon - the game play / story was just awesomesauce, and the graphics were a nice step up. oh and great voice acting.
lunar1+2 - amazing story.

i played all those games around the same time. and each one holds a special place in my heart.
