Or at least trying to. The data is presented in a misleading fashion and as such I think most people have misinterpreted it.
The data is presumably compiled from NA, where (in terms of sales) Wii>360>PS3 and you would actually expect to see the wii with a higher online representation, based on sales. It doesn't tell you anything about what percentage of the 5,000 owned each console, or really anything relavant at all, other than that more people played games online this year than last.
Thats really one of the greatest things about statistics: you can manipulate data to show what you want it to show. Its up to us to weed through the BS.

yes trying to. it would help alot if they gave us a percentage of each console in the 20000 polled. thats why i took the market share. i dont have a better way. but it statistically easier for the wii to be in the poll because of how many owners there are. one thing that would effect the poll is how they found the pool

Yea, its very poorly constructed data. As I said before, it really only tells us that more people are playing games online than last year. Probably due to the fact that all this gen's consoles are capable of it. Whereas last gens most popular console had limited online capability.
