Growing up in britian, I used to think to myself 'why don't the british return northern Ireland to the south and just leave all together'.  Getting older I know that if they did leave they would be a civil war with mass killing of people.  Protestants killing Catholics and Catholics killing Protestants and so fourth, just like Iraq is today.

If the army goes back on the streets Im sure we will go back to the days of bombing, shooting, killing, bombing againt british targets abroad, the list goes on.

The British should of got out in 1921 when the south was returned.  But history is much deeper than that in ireland, it goes all the way back to the 1600's with oliver cromwell.

I fear their even be some sort of uprising in scotland oneday, because scottish nationalism is on the rise there and the scots are a proud people with a long history and films like Braveheart, rob roy etc bring the sense of injustice the english have done to them.

I sense britishness in the UK is starting to fade away as more and more people class them selfs not as british but as english, scottlish, welsh.
