Perhaps there was a misunderstanding: I was saying Rocketpig's objection would make science useless, as his objection was (I believe) that that guy's argument would be flawed whether or not the earth was a closed system on the basis that we haven't discovered everything, which would mean that we couldn't use (or apply, or deduct, if you will) science for anything because we could always be wrong or not completely informed.
