On the other hand four of Nintendo's highest selling games ever came out this gen on the DS and Wii, and are all fresh and original IPs. They being Brain Age, Nintendogs, Wii Sports and Wii Fit.

...

I can give you that the idea of turning into a game stuff like self-improving videos and books was very succesfull and very well executed in Brain Age and Wii Fit. It was more bold than original, though. Educational minigames about maths and logic are ancient history on the PC, the DS just offered the right interface to implement them on a handheld.

As for Nintendogs? Little Computer People and Tamagotchi say hello.

Wii Sports? Obvious and fun showcase for the Wii controller, the content in itself is so rarefacted that it is hard to even call it an IP.

I like playing Wii Sports with friends as much as the next guy, but this idolizing Nintendo is sickening. They are good at tweaking, polishing and popularizing, they rely on pre-existing genres and concepts as much as most other devs, and more than the most original ones.

Ok, so then if none of that is original, then tell me what on the PS3 is, because all I see there is also "pre-existing genres and concepts".
